Can Sacred Space be Healthy for You?

Honoring something with respect and dignity is ‘sacred’…this something could be YOU! But, do you take time to honor yourself with your own sacred space?

The first  energy spot I work on now with clients who are super busy professionals, moms or retirees…is finding a sacred space.

Yes, exercise and spending time connecting with others is absolutely necessary, but these activities are still sending your energy  ‘outwards’.

The ancients who were energy experts and practiced Ta’i Chi, Qigong, Feng Shui, etc. knew that the key to maintaining good health is to cultivate and conserve energy ‘within’. So how can we do this?

I call it ‘Grown Up Time Out’ in a Sacred Space!

When we send little kids to the corner for ‘time out’, it is not about punishment. The point of time out is to:

  • calm down and reflect on something that may not have gone so well
  • develop more appropriate coping strategies for when the same situation occurs again
  • reconsider better ways to interact with peers the next time

Does this sound familiar? As grown ups, we face the same challenges of relating better with others to create more harmonious living and working environments.

But we know that prevention is the best strategy, and time out in our sacred space as a daily ritual, can be the antidote to keep us sane in all the chaos.

What is the feng shui of a sacred spot?

Places of worship have been around for centuries. We don’t have to be religious, or go to church to understand how they carved out tranquil settings to transport visitors from the daily grind of living to a place of calm and rest.

Be a copy cat and imbue your sacred space with this beneficial feng shui  energy to manifest compassion and kindness within yourself. Implement the armchair principle (like someone putting their arms around you). To feel grounded one must;

  •  feel protected
  • be away from noise, busy traffic areas, and distractions
  • see a calming vista…this can be a view of the water, the trees, a plant, flowers, a picture of, or smelling the scent, of Nature
  • be comfortable so both your body and mind can relax, and feel the tenseness melt away
