On those special trips to San Francisco when my daughters were little girls, I would buy a gardinia from the flower stall on Stockton Street for each of them.
Upon returning home, we would float them in a lovely glass bowl to prolong the enjoyment of the exotic fragrance.
Today, when I smelled the aroma of gardinias in my favorite flower shop, I was immediately transported back several years to those special occasions with my daughters who are all grown up now.
