The labels “All Natural”, “Eco-friendly”, “Green” and “Sustainable” unfortunately are often just marketing ploys.
To sell more products, companies often link their goods with consumers’ desires ~ thus causing us to be mislead.
QUESTIONS TO ASK TO DETERMINE IF A PRODUCT WE PUT INTO OUR BODY IS
A HEALTHY GREEN CHOICE
- Does the label include warnings such as “caution” or “use in a well-ventilated area”?
- Is the packaging easily recyclable?
- Does the label carry an independent, third-party verification of the product’s “green” claims?
- Does the label indicate a high level of fructose-corn syrup making it less than “natural”?
- Does the package contain genetically modified foods?
- Does the product contain added color, artificial flavors, or synthetic substances like pesticides and fertilizers?
WHAT ABOUT PRODUCTS WE PUT ON OUR BODY?
European countries have banned more than 1,000 chemical substances from use in cosmetics, but the FDA’s list is fewer than 12 substances for products we use on our hair, nails and skin.
