Nature provides balance even for the rich and famous.
Alex Vadulkul shares with his readers how Tony Bennett often goes to Central Park to paint as a balance to his singing career.
Yes, Tony can be found sitting on the bench in the morning calm of the park with his paint brush in hand. “I always paint nature,” he said. “Nature is the boss.”
Tony continues by saying that the park nourishes his creativity, and is his antidote to urbanity. “I live in the city,”he said, “but when I enter the park I am in the forest.”
He exclaimed, that when looking out from his apartment window, ” instead of having buildings, you have nature here.” “There is nothing more powerful than that.”
He paints the park throughout the four seasons capturing a loner walking through the blinding snow, taxis blurring in the night rain, and clusters of oranges and reds amongst the green foliage.
His father died at the age of 10. “He thought, Who am I? What am I supposed to do?” He found the beginnings of purpose during family gatherings when family visited to keep his mother company.
He would sing and paint to entertain them. Their continued feedback about how much they loved his singing and his painting – told him ‘who’ he was.
Yes, we would all love to be as talented as Tony Bennett, but in our own way, we all have a very special gift.
And like Tony, being in nature can help to nurture our total being. When we are relaxed, and simply enjoy the natural beauty, we are more able to open up and receive whatever is meant to come our way.
Go for a walk in the park today listening to the bird’s song, or stroll along the beach collecting the perfect shell for your special collection.
Take a tip from Tony Bennett, and observe how Nature provides us with the sensuality that is lacking in our spaces today. No need to go to the mall for therapy ~ simply connect with nature.
